Toronto based recording studio Cherry Beach Sound recently hosted Toronto rapper, songwriter, and television sensation Drake in studio for over 2 weeks to work on his much anticipated debut album. Attending the sessions alongside Drake were engineer/producer Noah “40” Shebib and Canadian hip-hop producer Boi-1da.
The second artist to have his first two singles reach top ten on Billboard’s Hot 100 in the same week, recording artist Drake is best known for his role as Jimmy Brooks on CTV’s Degrassi: The Next Generation. He has worked with and written songs for artists such as Kanye West, Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, Jamie Foxx, Mary J. Blige, Robin Thicke, and Lil Wayne.
“Drake is clearly making a name for himself,” said Carman Guerrieri, president and owner of Cherry Beach Sound. “We’re thrilled to have had Drake in our studio, bringing down the house with his team. I’ve watched Drake’s career take off from his initial stages in Degrassi to becoming one of North America’s hottest artists. We wish him the greatest success and look forward to his upcoming album.”
Drake’s debut album, Thank Me Later, is slated for release late this year. The album will feature the works of Roc-A-Fella’s own Jay-Z, Drake’s mentor Lil Wayne, rapper/producer Kanye West, and Boyz N Da Hood’s Young Jeezy.
